SXSW Wrap Up

Another SXSW come and gone. It was an exhausting, amazing week full of music discoveries, sunshine, good friends, free beer, early happy hours, dancing, more free beer, people (and shoe!) watching, pop-up shops & yeah, a bit more free beer. Boy Friend (pictured above), Washed Out & Zola Jesus played incredible sets but Tanlines really killed it. The closed the week down with a chillpop, calypso dance party that I'm still dreaming about. South By, I'll miss you, but I'm ready for a long bath & some quiet time.

Friday Finds

A handy SXSW survival guide to get you through the rest of the week.

Now if only my flyer miles would wrack up a bit quicker so I could take an NYC thrift trip.

A new favorite time killer: Classic Film Scans
Marilyn Monroe and Yves Montand, Jeanne Moreau and George Hamilton, Elvis Presley and Delores Del Rio

Let's try blue lashes! So pretty.

I think it's safe to say that SXSW is more than officially in full swing. Bands are playing in every empty nook and cranny, free beer is flowing, Brooklynites and Angelinos have taken over and everything is pretty much nuts. With all the other madness going on the last thing you want to worry about it what to throw on (okay, maybe it's the first thing you worry about - let's be honest) so here are a few of my favorite gems from the shop to keep you cool and comfy. Ankle boots, fluttery dresses, bright colors and worn denim teamed up with a splash of tough jewelry and you're good to go. Heck, the door guy might even let you in even if you forgot to RSVP.

In like a lion...

That's putting it mildly. March has roared in with days of rain and gloomy skies baffling SXSW out-of-towners. What!? It rains here!?! I thought it was supposed to be hot in Texas!! I just bought these new cut-offs! Early March's lion-tude may put a damper on over crowded out door parties and free beer bonanzas but I, for one, am really enjoying it. Give me a rainy day in bed any time.

But with South By in full swing a day in bed hardly seems like an option. So, grab you best lion inspired gear and just roar back at that rain!
