Hackwith x Olive Launch Party
Up and coming Minneapolis designer, Hackwith, believes "that your favorite piece of clothing doesn’t have to be shared; it can be as unique as you are!" We couldn't agree more. That's why we've collaborated with them to create a limited edition capsule collection exclusively for Olive! Clocking in at just 10 of a kind, the three piece collection embodies everything we think a gal should have on hand: an easy, dress up/dress down black dress, a chambray jumpsuit ideal for running around town and a toss on kimono just right for layering. Join us Friday, 8/22 from 5 - 8pm, to celebrate Hackwith's gorgeous work & score one the the few-of-a-kind beauties for yourself! Libations on hand for early arrivers. Stay up to date & RSVP here.
So honored to have had to opportunity to collaborate with such creative gals! The process was several months in the making - back and forth emailing, sketches, a little photoshop tweaking here and there and one incredibly tattered, well loved vintage dress finally led us to the perfect trio of clothing. Can't wait to share the fruits of our labor!

Gal Pal: Sister x Miranda Bennett
So excited to be hosting another round of Gal Pal - a pop-up centered around creative women - tomorrow evening at the shop. After a successful first go with ceramicist, Angel Oloshove & up-and-coming designer Kate de Para, both of Houston, two Austin ladies are up to bat: Jenny Mulder of Sister & Miranda Bennett. The two share an affection for rich indigos, effortless shapes & a touch of whimsy (creative dying & lil' booby sculptures anyone?). Can't wait to see what these two have in store! If you're in the Austin area swing by tomorrow evening from 6 - 8 for a cocktail, pizza & some Gal Pal goodness.

Botanicals Folklorica Honey Infusion Workshop
We spent a sunny afternoon sipping grapefruit, rose-honey cocktails from Mission Collective & learning all of Tamera's, of Botanicals Folklorica fame, honey infusing tricks. Working with raw, local honey from Dripping Springs & foraged pine & rose petals everyone mixed up their own little blend to take home. Honey infusion is much easier than you'd think! It goes like this: work with the absolute best honey you can find. Pick a few herbs you'd like to infuse - rosemary, rose, pine & lavender all work well, but don't be afraid to get creative & think out of the box. Mix them together in a jar with a lid. Place your jar in a windowsill or somewhere that gets nice sunlight. Flip your jar over every day or so, so the mixture moves around. Repeat for two weeks. Strain the herbs out with a cheese cloth. Bam: infused honey!

Ace & Jig F/W '13
I'm pretty in love with Ace & Jig's fall collection. Something just feels so right about classic shapes, easy trousers, simple doll dresses and rich wine tones for fall. A&J hit the mark as usual. The collection is streaming into stores now -- including at Olive!

Sister Coffee
We've got a sister! I'm so psyched to tell you about our own little coffee truck nestled up next to the shop - Sister Coffee. Hailing from the Bay Area, sisters Jenny & Maddie opened up shop just a week ago. They're already serving up delicious cold-brewed Blue Bottle coffee for our sweaty summers & will have espresso drinks very soon. Can't wait to see what these two cuties have in store!
On another note, how bout those business cards, huh? Ooof, I'm in love!

Lately.
Has it really been two months!? Sheesh. Just a little peep into the shop. Ace & Jig, Dusen Dusen, Miranda Bennett and Groceries have all joined the roster and I spent a balmy Monday afternoon shooting some of my favorite pieces for the online shop with sweet Tyna -- what a babe. Loads more goodies in as of late, so pop over to the online shop to see it all. We're even offering 20% off through the end of the weekend to celebrate all the newness -- just use code 'welcomeaj'.

Olive, Spring '13 Lookbook
The ladies of the dreamy band Boyfriend took a road trip out to East Texas with me to shoot the shop's first ever (!!!) lookbook. I grew up in that oft-overlooked part of the state and wanted to share some of its beauty so we shot at Caddo Lake, the only naturally occurring lake in the whole state of Texas! It's a strange, otherworldly place full of Spanish moss and Cypress trees. It seemed like just the right spot to share some of Olive's spring goodies. Just moody enough to offset the brights and pastels of spring but dreamy enough to compliment them.
